8th June 2021
We are writing to inform you that today, 8 June, the Government has launched a new consultation on Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (“PEEPs”) in high-rise residential buildings which seeks views on implementing the relevant Grenfell Inquiry’s recommendations.
The consultation will be open for a period of six weeks, from 8th June to 19th July 2021. We would like to encourage you to respond to and to raise awareness of the new consultation amongst colleagues and others who you think might have an interest. A copy of the consultation is available at Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
Alongside our consultation, we are also holding workshops and would very much like to hear from you and others during the consultation period. In line with the current Government guidance for social distancing, these will be virtual meetings and will take place on Microsoft Teams. Please note on the following dates and times:
- 15 June, 14:30 to 16:30
- 24 June, 10:00 to 12:00
- 30 June, 14:30 to 16:30
- 8 July, 10:00 to 12:00
Formal invites will follow shortly. You are welcome to attend one or more of the workshops. Please do get in touch with us if you need additional information.
Our promise as a Government is to work together to ensure that no such tragedy can ever be allowed to happen again. Getting this right is our priority. We hope this consultation and the workshops planned will give you the opportunity to inform our final decisions and we encourage you to participate in this process.
Further information about the consultation on the PEEPs in high-rise residential buildings and its supporting documents is available online at Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). Again, we very much welcome your views and encourage you to respond to the consultation.
