Subject: Building Safety Fund opens for New Applications Today
The Department is pleased to announce that the Building Safety Fund opened for new applications today. Please see our press release for more information here: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/leaseholders-protected-from-unfair-bills-to-make-homes-safe
We have adapted the Building Safety Fund to ensure high-rise buildings continue to be made safe while focussing relentlessly on making sure our approach is risk-driven, proportionate and delivered more quickly. People’s safety will remain paramount.
We would also like to make you aware of the supporting information we have published on GOV.UK:
- We have updated our existing Building Safety Fund page which contains our BSF 2020 guidance which is still relevant to some existing applicants.
- We have created a new Building Safety Fund 2022 page which contains new guidance and is relevant to new and some existing applicants.
- We have updated our Building Safety Fund leaseholder and residents page so that those living in buildings in the Fund have relevant information.
A new online Leaseholder Protections Checker will help leaseholders understand if they qualify for financial protections against historical building safety costs under the Building Safety Act. Those that the protections apply to will need to complete and submit a leaseholder Deed of Certificate to their building owner to confirm if they have to pay anything or not.
We would be grateful if you could circulate this information on our behalf. We would also like to make you aware of our email inboxes, all of which are promoted on GOV.UK:
|Applicant and external stakeholder enquiries about the reopened Fund
|Evidence submission inbox for new applications
To be used solely for providing supporting evidence for new applications
|Leaseholder and resident enquiries
Individuals should provide the full address of their building and their building’s unique building code if they have one
|Social sector applicant enquiries and evidence submission inbox
For any broader questions, please let the External Affairs team know.
